ILA is a design collaboration, born of the imaginations and artistic wizardry of brother, Vikas Sodhani and sister, Ila. Their timeless collection was launched in 2007. Since then ILA's exquisite craftsmanship and unique designs have become widely recognized by Saks Fifth Avenue, BHLDN, Moda Operandi, and ABC Carpet and Home, amongst many other international retailers.
The siblings' return to their ancestral homeland in the northern deserts of India, to interweave those most intricate cultural aspects with their own modernistic visions. Old world collides with new, fusing together the ancient and timeless with the present day modi relevant. Rajasthan is an enchanted region, whose resplendent history is anchored in mysticism and beauty. Edifices of their family lineage, havelis, still stand today. Skilled artisans, in a mad dash overture to record and preserve the Northern Indian cultures, hand carved mythologies into the haveli walls. Vikas and Ila's frequent travels back to India and their deeper explorations of these mythologies, resonate in the details and originality of their fine jewelry designs.
Vikas helms the technical side of ILA as he holds an engineering degree from MIT. His fascination with balance and simplicity and purpose of design effortlessly translates into his nonconformist approach to fine jewelry. He is able to seamlessly merge fashion, engineering and design. Ila tempers Vikas's mechanical edge, with elegance and beauty. She inherits a precise softness from her mother, a FIT graduate of textile design, and from her ten years of experience dedicated to luxury bridal jewelry design.
